What is Crawl Space Conditioning and Encapsulation?
Crawl space encapsulation is a process where a Vapor Barrier is used to completely cover your crawl space floors and foundation walls. In some cases, we may even “encapsulate” your floor-joists and sub-floor with Closed Cell Spray Foam Insulation. This work creates a moisture and vapor barrier that prevents dampness, mold, and pests. In an encapsulated crawl space, the insulation is installed in the floor joists.
Crawl space conditioning involves changing the location of the insulation from the floor joists to the foundation wall, controlling the temperature and humidity levels in your crawl space and treating the space as an extension of the home’s heated and cooled area. We had a serious carbon monoxide problem with our water heater. Ryan came out and not only identified this problem but identified numerous ways we could save energy. The energy work was done promptly and we were informed of energy credits that were available to us Due to his audit we proceeded to have a new water heater (tank less--our choice) installed. I would have no problem recommending an energy audit by Ryan even if you aren't starting from a position where a problem exists. The long lasting bulbs we received throughout the house easily defrayed the minimal cost of the audit.
